Hi Oliver!

The family is great! We just put Dimitri down for a nap in his own crib -- for the first time -- and he seems to be loving it. (sigh of relief) It's really an amazing thing to have a kid. I'm completely in love.

I can't wait to check this out! Pretty exciting!

It's a tie: Jessye Norman serenading me with some Strauss songs as she warmed up for a private concert and.....hearing the Verdi Requiem at the Kloster Eberbach (Cistercian cloister in German wine country) with Christoph Eschenbach while the swallows circled above our heads. But wait...what about Mahler 8 with SFSMTT...Mahler 2 with Lorraine? This is tough.

When no one is looking I secretly pop in my Abba Gold CD in my car and sing along quite out of tune to the bemused stares of passersby.

An interesting numbers game seems to be happening with acclaimed pianist Lang Lang these days. A year ago, Lang Lang was the featured artist at the opening of the Beijing Olympics, which started at 8:08pm on 8/8/08. I'll give you one guess where Lang Lang will be at 9:09pm on 9/9/09? Yup, in Davies Symphony Hall as the featured artist at the opening of the SFS season.
