A note of clarification- Of course I did not learn in two weeks to play Liszt's Rapsoday no. 15, but I did put together a version of my own, that was, I guess, good enough to impress that old guy. Just didn't want anyone to get the idea I'm some kin…
My favorite piano piece is Beethovan's Tempest Sonata. It shows off the full range of the piano as the "composer's" instrument in a way no other instrument can. It also is to me the beginning of the romantic period in classical music- the range of e…

God, where to start!?! In the classical world, I will never forget seeing Horowitz in Moscow on PBS as a young adult! Brought me back to listening to classical music and especially the piano- then playing classical again. Yo Yo Ma, he's done so much for music around the world! Andreas Segovia, Casals, (oh, the cello!)
My favorite composers:
Beethovan, Mozart, Mahler, Rachmaninoff, Kodaly, Liszt, Brahms, JS Bach, Bartok, Chopin, Verdi, Wagner, Schumann, Dvorak, Korsakov, Prokofiev, Debussy, Puccini, Stavinsky, Gershwin, Sondheim, Ligeti, John Williams, Philip Glass, Tan Dun, to name a few...
The instrument(s) I play (or played, as a kid):
Piano, synthesizers, acoustic guitar (both classical and steel string) , electric guitar, electric bass, drums (percussion), harmonica, accordian, flute, and anything I can get my hands on and try! Even played around with the violin, and dream of some day learning to play the cello!
My favorite concert of all time:
On television, Horowitz in Moscow. Live- MTT conducting Mahler's 5th symphony after 1st moving back to the San Francisco Bay Area. It was life affecting!
What I’d like people on this social network to know about me:
I've never had the opportunity to play my own compositions for a large audience. I've played for people, and have brought many to tears, which really made me feel like I must have something special to share. I've always dreamed of making a living with music, but was never encouraged, due in part to family members never believing a person can make much of a living at it. I still believe in that dream, and hope to someday share with them my passion!
