My favorite concert of all time:: its a tie:
1) singing with the Los Angeles Philharmonic conducted by Esa-Pekka Salonen, with the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis at the Hollywood Bowl on Sept. 13, 2001. Two days after 9/11 and on my birthday- an amazing performance experience with a huge choir and orchestra, west coast premiere of Marsalis' piece All Rise. We also recorded it at the Warner Bros. Studios.
2) Seeing Lang Lang in LA before he was a superstar. He performed 3 encores- it was A-mazing!
3) my first San Francisco Symphony concert (as an employee) with Michael Tilson Thomas conducting

Waited for him, spent most of the afternoon chatting. He had those Satchmo lips, worn in a circle from years of horn blowing.
