My husband and I are coming in November to hear Berlin Phil and contemplate a couple or three nights in the city near Davies, etc. Anyone know any interesting places to stay, such as small hotel or? Our default is often in East Bay. We will bring our car; so parking is important, but could be valet or other lot.

My wife and I attended the Yuja Wang concert in MAY (drove from Everett WA)
Stayed at the Inn at the Opera: One block from Davies.
Smallest room was 170$/day including 25$/day valet parking.
Very nice hotel.
We enjoyed the "boutique" style vs standard chain hotel we usually stay in.
This was our first trip to SF.
We quickly discovered the is little or no available parking
We stayed 2 days and did not use our car.

Regards

Look into the Jack Tar Hotel, about 7 blocks north on Van Ness. You might check their reviews on TripAdvisor dot com.
My wife and I love the restaurant. I know nothing about their guest rooms and rates, but it's a mid-range hotel. The public rooms on the first floor are nicely refurbished.

Thank you for this suggestion. We grew up in California, but our families live in the metro area, and it's simpler and more fun to stay close to Davies. We had stayed in recent years at Parc 55, but I'm looking for alternatives since the last time there was confusion about our reservation when we drove in, tired. The parking rate you quote is very reasonable. We garage our car and use the transit. Hope you enjoyed the concert.

Thank you for the suggestion. As I mentioned to James Sagnis, we grew up in the Bay Area, and the Jack Tar is famous to us, but we've never stayed there. We'd heard there was a big remodel. Guess we should check it out.

Do NOT look for the "JackTarHotel" it hasn't gone by that name since the 1970s. That is almost 29 years ago!!! I believe it is now named something along the lines of Cathedral Hill Hotel, however it is about eight walking blocks from the Symphony.

The closer and nice place would be the INN at the Opera on Fulton Street.

Although there is some type of lodging on Gough and Hayes, it seems as if it is more for transients and the Days Inn on Grove and Gough seems as if it is more of a motel.

Thanks for the suggestions. We've since checked out the "JT" and understand it is not what it was. We're still attending the concert but thinking of staying in San Leandro, where we often do when visiting BA. It means dealing with traffic. But we're still undecided. Some family things came up.
Will post a review soon about an amazing concert we heard in Seattle by Orpheus Chamber Orchestra.

Joie de Vivre Hotels contacted us with this special offer - perhaps any of you traveling from out of town would like to consider extending your stay and add a third day.
